When Mitsubishi introduced three of the most exciting concepts at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, we could tell there was a new wave of energy emanating from the car company. Most recently, the 2016 Outlander Sport took center-stage at the New York Auto Show, modeling the same distinctive design language of the concept cars.
While the new 2016 Outlander will be available later this year, Mitsubishi already has in the works another SUV for the US market that it promises will be “the return of a legend,” which is slated to reappear as a 2017 model. Early spy photos indicate sweeping lines and curves instead of the boxy-shaped older version of the car, and if the GC-PHEV concept car is any indication, the 2017 Montero may offer the same unique styling, plug-in-hybrid powertrain consisting of a supercharged V6 engine, and electric motor good for a combined 335hp.
Although it is still sold overseas, the Mitsubishi Montero return will mark the first time the vehicle has been offered in the US since 2006. Be sure to check in with Pantili Mitsubishi for the latest on these models.
