Crossovers are among the fastest growing vehicles in America, in terms of popularity. Three-row crossovers are at the bigger end of the crossover spectrum and are typically for people who prefer a more stylish, less bulky vehicle over a minivan.
Every year, Cars.com puts together a list of the Most Affordable Three-Row Crossovers, an important study in light of the crossover’s popularity. It’s a great study because Cars.com doesn’t just look at the purchase price; the website also takes into account “five years of fuel costs and residual values of the cars after five years provided by ALG to determine which crossover will cost the least in the long run.”
After the smoke cleared, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander had claimed the top spot in the list of Most Affordable Three-Row Crossover by Cars.com. The Outlander possessed all of the features that Cars.com deemed “essential to car shoppers today,” like an automatic transmission, a power driver’s seat, a rearview camera, a USB port, and Bluetooth connectivity.
