Mitsubishi has had a good start to 2016 mostly driven by the popularity of the updated Outlander and Outlander Sport. Mitsubishi’s January sales were led by the Outlander Sport, which sold 2,223 units.
This was followed by the Outlander, which had its best January since 2007 with sales of 1,543—an increase of 53.8% over January 2015. January was also the 11th consecutive month of year-over-year sales for the Outlander.
The 2016 Outlander has over 100 updates over the previous model, including a new exterior design, a reconfigured interior, engineering improvements, and improved second-row seating. It also boasts excellent safety scores and was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety with the availability of Forward Collision Mitigation.
As for the smaller Outlander Sport, it also has an excellent safety record and has earned a Top Safety Pick recognition for four years in a row. Buyers can choose between engine options that deliver the ideal balance between efficiency and power.
