Restyled 2016 Outlander Awaits in New York

Mitsubishi is inviting everyone to “come see the new face of Mitsubishi Motors” at the 2015 New York International Auto Show, where it will be revealing what can only be the restyled 2016 Outlander SUV.

That assumption can be made from the poster that came with the announcement, which depicts a fairly recognizable front end. But as we know from previous spy shots, Mitsubishi has gone to work on both the front fascia and much of the rear end of the most popular vehicle in its lineup.

There’s also good reason to think the restyling will coincide with the American debut of the Outlander’s plug-in hybrid version, which has us expecting a design more or less along the lines of the Outlander PHEV Concept-S previously unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

In any case, we can’t wait to have the new 2016 Outlander at Pantili Mitsubishi. Stay tuned for the press conference at 11:30AM ET on April 2nd for the big reveal!

Mitsubishi L200 Debut: Geneva Motor Show

There’s a new and improved sport utility truck on the way and its coming from Mitsubishi. The last time we saw this thing back in November 2014, it was called the Triton. Now, the Mitsubishi L200 debut is set for the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The L200 is heading into its fifth generation. According to Mitsubishi, it offers “new heights of reliability, toughness, interior comfort, and maneuverability.” The interior cabin is more spacious and quieter than previous models. The club-cab version now includes rear doors, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, a rear view camera, and steering wheel adjustments for comfort.

Under the hood is a 2.4-liter MIVEC turbo diesel engine that comes in two models. The base model enters the ring at 152 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. The power model reaches 178 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. The engine is wrapped in a pretty bow with a six speed manual transmission that drops carbon dioxide emissions by 17%.

Safety is standard as usual with Mitsubishi. Active Stability & Traction Control now comes with Trailer Stability Assist, Hill start Assist, and Lane Departure Warning. LED daytime running lights also come standard.

There you have it; the all-new Mitsubishi L200 sport utility truck. Sporty, environmentally green, and everything in between.

Mitsubishi Montero Is Making a Comeback

Recently, Mitsubishi dropped a somewhat cryptic hint about a vehicle set to make its debut at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show. Mitsubishi released an image showing a tall SUV sitting on the top of a hill with the words, “The Return of a Legend” printed on the page.

Based on the shadowy image of the SUV and what we know about Mitsubishi, it would seem the Montero is making a comeback. The Montero was sold here in the United States from 1983 through 2005. It is still sold in other markets around the world as the Pajero, so resurrecting it here wouldn’t be too big of an issue.

The Montero was loved by off-road enthusiasts and would surely be welcomed back with open arms. It may not keep the traditional body-on-frame design of most large SUVs, but we would expect it would still maintain its off-road nature.

Montero or not, Mitsubishi will take this SUV out of the shadows on February 12. Would you like the Mitsubishi Montero to come back to the lineup?

Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept Could Mark “The Return of a Legend”

Mitsubishi has released a teaser poster that flaunts “The Return of a Legend” ahead of the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.

The poster displays an indistinguishable crossover sitting on top of a sand dune, which doesn’t give us a lot to work with as far as figuring out which of their past legends might make a comeback.

Though now that we mention it, we do remember the Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept that made its debut at the Tokyo Auto Show back in 2013, which seemed to hint at a future Pajero or Montero design, and the latter would certainly fit the bill as a potential “legend” to return.

Back when it was first sold in the U.S. in 1982, the Montero was an instant classic thanks to its body-on-frame construction and rugged four-wheel-drive capabilities. At just the right size and with lots of new tech, the Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept is just right vehicle to renew its legacy with a modern touch.

If the concept is indeed the “legend” the automaker has been hinting at, we look forward to seeing what it can do at Pantili Mitsubishi!

Make Mom Happy: Safety Tips For Snow Sledding

With the snow comes a lot of undesirables, like having to scrape your windshield on those dark, below-zero mornings; shoveling snow; driving in those dangerously slick conditions. But we can’t forget snowball fights and ice skating and just how simply beautiful the snow can look on the West Virginia landscape!

Then there’s the best of all: snow sledding. With sledding, the tendency is to push it until you are breaking Olympic bobsled records. To ensure that your sledding excursion ends well, we’ve amassed a few safety tips for snow sledding.

Got a bicycle helmet lying around? Throw it on! This is especially necessary if you are sledding in a wooded area.

Try to get a sled with runners and a steering mechanism. While racing down a hill on a snow disc, spinning out of control, may seem thrilling, you really need to be able steer in case there are obstacles.

You might think that placing a spotter at the bottom of a hill justifies sledding down a hill with a street at the bottom. Don’t trust it! Try to find a hill that both offers a thrilling grade but also offers few obstacles and a safe landing area.

How to Protect Your Car from Burglars

Although car thefts are on the decline, there are always those out there who are on the hunt for vehicles that would be easy to break into and steal. Whether those people are looking for a new ride for themselves or just  want to make a quick buck by selling its parts, it is important that you stay alert to this ever-lurking danger. Here at Pantili Mitsubishi, we’ve got some tips on how to protect your car from burglars.

  1. Lock up – No matter how long you anticipate being away from your vehicle, be sure to roll the windows up all the way and lock all the doors, every time.
  2. Park well – It is wise to park in a well-lit area. Find a spot under or near a street light whenever possible and avoid parking behind a large van or truck that obscures your vehicle from view, giving burglars easier access.
  3. Hide belongings – Before you leave the parking lot for your next destination, be sure to hide your belongings. Bags, boxes, etc., will only tempt robbers, as will placing bags in the trunk just before walking into a store. We recommend that you place your belongings in the trunk or conceal them in the back seat before you drive from one parking lot to your next destination.

Be sure to hide electronics out of sight as well. If your GPS leaves a ring on your window, use an alcohol wipe to clean the glass and keep prowling thieves from guessing there is a GPS system somewhere inside the vehicle.

While we don’t like to think about there being people in the world with such cruel intentions, we can’t pretend they don’t exist. Make it a habit to exercise safe habits every time you leave your vehicle, so that your car becomes less of a temptation to thieves. The best way to avoid having your vehicle stolen is not to stay home, but to be a smart driver.
