Mitsubishi wants to make sure that they have a vehicle for everyone, so the Japanese carmaker has announced a new Outlander Sport powertrain option that will provide owners with more power than ever before. This new 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine produces 168 horsepower, which is an increase of 20 horsepower over the standard 2.0-liter engine.
The 2.4-liter engine is offered in two different trim levels—the 2.4 ES and the 2.4 GT. As the base trim level, the 2.4 ES offers similar features to the 2.0-liter’s ES model with a black center bumper that sets it apart, all for an MSRP of $21,295. The Sport 2.4 GT has a price tag of $23,595, adding features like power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped parking brake handle, and aluminum pedals.

Mitsubishi was recently awarded two Top Safety Picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This prestigious award only goes to the safest vehicles on the market, those which can pass a series of crash tests and simulations. It’s no wonder the 2015 Lancer and Outlander won.
Both the Lancer and the Outlander were given the Top Safety Pick+ designation, according to Mitsubishi. The Outlander was specially recognized by the IIHS for its innovative use of new safety technologies. The best of the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander safety features are the Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) system and advanced RISE safety engineering.
“The Mitsubishi RISE safety body construction system is the perfect example of this kind of technology. In the event of an accident, energy is absorbed and deflected away from the occupant cell, which enhances passenger protection,” said Don Swearingen, Executive Vice President of MMNA.
