When it comes to safety, Mitsubishi knows what it’s doing. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently named three Mitsubishi vehicles—the 2015 Outlander, Oulander Sport, and Lancer—Top Safety Pick award winners, showing that these Japanese vehicles are safer than ever before.
“Thanks to our advanced high-tech engineering and safety features, the Mitsubishi Lancer, Outlander, and Outlander Sport have consistently achieved high IIHS safety ratings,” said Don Swearingen, Executive Vice President of Mitsubishi Motors North America. “The Mitsubishi RISE safety body construction system is the perfect example of this kind of technology. In the event of an accident, energy is absorbed and deflected away from the occupant cell, which enhances passenger protection.”
Other standard safety features for the Mitsubishi Lancer, Outlander, and Outlander Sport include seven air bags, Active Stability Control, Traction Control Logic, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and Anti-lock braking system with Electronic brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist.

Every carmaker wants to create loyal customers, and it looks like no one does it better than Mitsubishi. The Japanese carmaker recently announced that the Mitsubishi Mirage earned an IHS Automotive Model Loyalty Award in the Non-Luxury Traditional Sub-Compact Car Segment.
“We are delighted to receive this Model Loyalty recognition by IHS Automotive,” said Don Swearingen, Executive Vice President of Mitsubishi Motors North America. “Mitsubishi Motors has experienced growing customer loyalty across our entire model lineup through the years, and this award demonstrates that we are successfully retaining our current customers while simultaneously introducing new consumers to the brand.”
To determine the winners for the IHS Automotive Model Loyalty Award, IHS Automotive examines various households and whether they return to the market and purchase or lease another new vehicle of the same make or model. With a starting MSRP of $12,995 and an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of up to 37 mpg city and 44 mpg highway, it comes as no surprise that more consumers are coming back for another Mitsubishi Mirage.
