Fall Service Tips to Protect Your Vehicle

Fall Vehicle Service

Taking care of your car isn’t only important for the sake of your vehicle—it’s important for your safety, too. These fall service tips will help you maintain your vehicle’s performance so that you can have safe driving moving into the fall season.

Tires

Keeping your tires properly inflated is a critical part of driving in autumn rain showers. Driving on wet roads is also much safer when your tires are in good shape, showing no signs of visible damage and maintaining a deep, healthy tread.

Battery

If the car battery is old, it may perform fine in the summer and then surprise you by dying in the autumn. This is because cold weather is tough on batteries. Avoid getting stranded by bringing your car into Pantilli Mitsubishi to have your battery tested and replaced if needed before the low temperatures hit.

Brakes

It’s obviously important to have healthy brakes when you’re preparing to drive on rain, show, or ice. If you feel a pumping or pulsing when you brake, if you hear a squeaking, or if it’s been awhile since the brakes were checked, have them looked at by our team at Pantilli Mitsubishi. We’ll make sure your vehicle is set for safe driving on slick roads.

Signs of Worn-Out Tires

rain tiresKeeping you connected to the road are four very important pieces of rubber. Your tires are a crucial part of your vehicle’s safety, and when they get old and worn out, they could jeopardize your safety. That is why it is very important to know when you have worn-out tires. Here are some of the ways to tell when it is time to replace your tires.

  • Tread depth. With a simple penny, you can test the depth of your tread. Put a penny head down into the grooves on your tire. If you see the top of Lincoln’s head, your tread is too low. Do this test on a few places on each tire since they do not always wear evenly.
  • Other signs of wear. If the tires have any cracks or bulges on the side wall, you need to get them inspected as soon as possible.
  • Age. Regardless of wear, tire manufacturers recommend you replace your tires every 6 to 10 years. Check the recommendation for your specific tires.

If you are concerned about the wear or age of your tires, schedule a service appointment here at Pantili Mitsubishi and we can inspect your tires and let you know if they are in need of replacement.
