When it comes to pickup trucks, it’s likely that the first carmaker that comes to mind isn’t Mitsubishi—but that is about to change. The Japanese carmaker recently announced a brand-new version of its Triton pickup truck. While the truck has sold over 1.2 million trucks since its introduction in 2005, the 2015 Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck will be the first Mitsubishi pickup model to receive a significant overhaul.
The newest Triton will draw from the Mitsubishi GR-HEV concept that debuted at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, combining a comfortable interior with the functionality of a pickup. Consumers can choose from a Single, Double, or Club Cab variant with three different engine options that change depending on the market it is being sold in. These engines include a 2.4-liter gasoline, a 2.5-liter turbodiesel, and a new 2.4-liter turbodiesel with electronic valve timing.
